Phoenix continues to invest resources into the port and terminal industry

19.12.2013 – In response to rapid growth and expansion, Phoenix Products Company Inc. has implemented several changes allowing the company to better cater to its port and terminal customers.

Phoenix is proud to welcome Thorsten Kuschel as the newest member of the port and terminal division. Kuschel is based in Denmark and is responsible for port and terminal lighting in the European market. He joins Phoenix from Group Procurement in A.P. Moller – Maersk where he was a Category Manager for port equipment spare parts. Kuschel also brings a strong technical background from 14 years of experience in the German Navy as an aircraft engineering and quality assurance officer for helicopters. He holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering (Diplom-Ingenieur) from German Armed Forces University in Munich.

Phoenix’s dedicated team will be led by Ryan Hertel. Hertel has been promoted to the Global Manager for Ports and Terminals. He will oversee Phoenix’s port and terminal team worldwide as well as manage various international projects. Hertel will also continue to expand Phoenix’s distribution network worldwide and remain instrumental in continuing the company’s success in the container handling, bulk handling, and intermodal markets.

In his previous position of Director of Business Development, Hertel provided terminals with lighting solutions to support their goals of efficiency and sustainability. He spent considerable time educating terminals on the advantages of LED technology for container handling equipment and establishing Phoenix as the industry leader in this field. Hertel also holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin.

When asked about the changes at Phoenix, Hertel stated that “Phoenix brings an incredible level of experience in building durable, long-lasting fixtures for container handling equipment and can be trusted to continually innovate in this field. We are thrilled to have a team prepared to bring superior products and service to the industry worldwide.”
