China’s Ningbo Port Group order four Terex® Noell ERTGs

04.07.2011 – Terex Port Equipment has signed a new contract for the delivery of four Terex® Noell Elevated Busbar Rubber-Tired Gantry Cranes (ERTG) to the Ningbo Port Group Co. Ltd., Phase V Yuandong port terminal in China.  Delivery is scheduled for the last quarter of 2011.

Engineered for highly selective and space-intensive container stacking and handling, the four Terex Noell ERTGs were ordered to address the rapid growth of containerized handling operations, within the framework of its Phase V Yuandong terminal expansion.  This new order will bring the number of Terex RTGs up to a total of 139 units operated by Ningbo Port Group in China.

Despite the first signs of the onset of global market challenges, container throughput in Ningbo continued to grow to reach a total of 13 million TEUs in 2010, or a 25 per cent increase compared to 2009, making it China’s third biggest port.

“The high quality and robust reliability of Terex Noell RTGs, plus the great relationship that we share with the company’s team, had a strong influence on our purchase decision. This contract was awarded on the basis of the machines’ excellent quality/price ratio, and the need to sustain our capacity to handle containerized goods reliably and cost-effectively as our terminal continues to grow,” says Mr. Chen Yongning, Engineering Department Manager, Ningbo Port Group Phase V Yuandong port terminal.

“For Terex Port Equipment, this new order demonstrates our customer’s confidence in our commitment to the growth of its business in China. Terex Noell ERTG’s have a time-proven reputation for reliable, cost-effective performance, and we are proud to have been chosen to continue to support our customer in the successful development of its Phase V Yuandong port terminal,” says Ken Lousberg, President, Terex China.
