PEMA – The Port Equipment Manufacturers Association has published its annual market surveys for 2018:
- 8th Annual Global Survey of Ship to Shore Container Crane Deliveries;
- 12th Annual Global Survey of Mobile Equipment;
- 8th Annual Global Survey of Ship to Shore Container Crane Deliveries;
The surveys are researched and authored exclusively forPEMA by Brian Robinson.The papers were published at the end of May 2019.
Based on original data gathered from port equipment manufacturers around the world, the objective of the annual surveys is to determine market size and scope by equipment delivery volumes for mobile port handling equipment deliveries, ship-to-shore (STS) container crane deliveries and yard container gantry cranes deliveries including:
- Rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs)
- Electrified rubber-tyred gantry cranes (e-RTGs)
- Rail-mounted gantry cranes (RMGs)
- Automated stacking cranes (ASCs)
- Reach stackers for handling laden containers
- Reach stackers for handling empty containers
- Lift trucks for handling laden containers
- Lift trucks for handling empty containers
- 4 x 2 terminal tractors
- 4 x 4 / 6 x 4 terminal tractors
As usual the Market surveys are reserved only for PEMA members for the first year of their publications. PEMA members are encouraged to visit the PEMA website and download the surveys. While these are reserved for members exclusively, in May 2020 PEMA will make them available for the general public as part of our commitment and dedication to the port equipment industry.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
For the past 18 years, Brian Robinson has worked as a freelance journalist and transport industry consultant. His journalistic and consulting assignments have covered all aspects of the transport, shipping, ports and terminals industry, with special emphasis on terminal handling equipment.
Mr. Robinson has conducted detailed annual industry surveys of ship to shore (STS) cranes, RTG/RMG yard cranes and mobile harbour cranes, which have been published in the trade press and become industry benchmarks. This year, he is also conducting surveys of 2018 deliveries of mobile port handling equipment and STS cranes on behalf of PEMA.
