PEMA to host second live session at TOC Europe
June 4, 2018 – Following a successful launch at TOC Americas last autumn, the Port Equipment Manufacturers Association announces the ‘PEMA Papers’ initiative will return to TOC Worldwide events for the second session at TOC Europe next week.
The ‘PEMA Papers’, which sees the PEMA Technical Committee Papers presented in engaging and dynamic live sessions, will have a dedicated space inside the TOC Europe agenda next week.
In the second instalment, five authors from PEMAs Technical Committees will present three newly published papers, spanning the topics of Terminal Safety, Process Automation and Environmental Efficiency.
The session will open with an overview of the new PEMA Standards Paper: Product Environmental Impact Evaluation, which sets out a common industry standard for evaluating the environmental impact of container handling products. Lead author Jussi Korpela and contributors, Hannu Ojaand Jan Willem van den Brand will explore the impact the PEMA model could have for improved energy efficiency data of port equipment.
Kari Rintanen, Chair of the PEMA Automation and Control Technologies Committee, talks on the key points from the paper, Automatic Stacking Crane Performance, examining alternative layouts of ASCs and how these impact performance in container stacking operations.
Closing the PEMA session, Stephan Stiehler will present the new paper, Collision Prevention at Ports and Terminals. Considering the major features and types of non-contact technologies for collision prevention, this segment will suggest the installation of these technologies in new and existing port equipment to improve terminal safety.
Of the PEMA Papers initiative, Chair of the CEEP Committee, Fae Brennan, said: ‘The PEMA Information Papers, hold a unique role within the industry, providing practical, topical and non-commercial insight into different aspects of port equipment and technology. Developed in partnership with TOC Worldwide, the ‘PEMA Papers’ initiative aims to bring the technical papers to the attention of the wider ports and terminals community, providing attendees with a unique opportunity to learn directly from experts and contribute to wider discussions through Q&A sessions’.
